Vlahovic Scores! – Italian Football News 7 Feb

In typical Vlahovic fashion, Juve’s new signing scored on his debut.

The weekend could not have gone better for Juventus.

Atalanta’s shock defeat to lowly Cagliari gave them a chance to leapfrog them and get into the top 4 and, of course, new signing Dusan Vlahovic opened his Juventus account on his debut.

Just 13 minutes into his first game, he was put through by a deft lobbed pass from Dybala to lob Montipo and put Juve a goal up. Account opened.

Vlahovic played like he had been there for years, linking with the players who had most to fear from his arrival, such as Dybala and Morata. It was Morata who threaded a pass through for the other new boy Denis Zakaria to match Vlahovic and score.

Earlier in the day, Sampdoria thumped Sassuolo 4-0 , going 2-0 up inside 7 minutes. Caputo and Sensi the scorers, with Conti and Candreva adding further gloss later on.

Udinese beat Torino 2-0 and Bologna and Empoli fought out a goalless draw.

Napoli travelled to Venezia, who had fallen into the bottom three after Cagliari’s victory. Napoli had chances but made hard work of the game but on the return to the starting lineup of Victor Osimhen, he made the difference with a towering header to put them 1-0 up on the hour.

The game racked up 100 minutes, most of the added time as a result of a collision between Venezia’s Ebouhe and the ref, leaving the Venezia player needing stitches. No mercy shown to Ebouhe after 95 minutes, though, the ref consulting with VAR to give the striker a straight red after a horrible foul on Mertens. Bang on 100 minutes, Petagna rounded off a Napoli counter attack to finish the scoring.

Inter top the table on 53 points from 23 games, Napoli are a point behind them having played a game more, ahead of Milan on goal difference.

Juve are now in 4th on 45 points. Napoli play Inter at home at the weekend.

The final game this weekend is tonight, between Salernitana and Spezia.
