Call the cops! A robbery took place in the region of the Camp Nou stadium in Barcelona last night, the victims were Napoli.

Napoli were away to Barcelona in their Europa League play off game and started as underdogs, despite their high league position and Barcelona claiming total poverty. Despite being totally skint, Barca were able to start their three new January signings – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Adama Traore and the hilariously wasteful Ferran Torres.

Napoli were content to sit back and attack through Osimhen in the channels and on 29 minutes, Elmas’ skill on the right played in Zielinski. The Pole’s first shot was parried by Ter Stegen but Zielinski was first to the rebound and crashed it into the roof of the net with Osimhen screaming for the ball.

Despite there being an hour left, Napoli tried to preserve energy by protecting their lead. Coach Spaletti angered by his team’s inability to keep the ball and retreat towards their own goal.

Ferran Torres had already headed wide when Adama Traore crossed the ball into the Napoli box on 57 minutes. Nobody thought anything of it but 30 seconds later, the ref was called to the pitchside screen by VAR. The ball had brushed the fingertip of Juan Jesus from a metre away. The ref decided he has made a clear and obvious error in not giving the penalty and pointed to the spot.

Torres put the penalty away and Barca sensed blood. They pressed more as Napoli were forced into more desperate defending. Torres was twice played in for clear scoring opportunities but shot over the bar twice. The sight of his manager’s reactions won’t make pleasant viewing.

After a bad injury to Fabien Ruiz in injury time caused further delay, the ref called it a day and we look forward to the return game in Naples next week.

Lazio were beaten 2-1 away to Porto and have an uphill climb to get into the next round. They took the lead through Zaccagni but goals from Joao Mario and Toni Martinez made the Portuguese side favourites to go through.

Finally, Atalanta were rocked early on when Olympiacos went a goal up against the run of play but two goals in two minutes from the surprising source of defender Berat Djimsiti turned the game around in favour of the Bergamaschi.

In Serie A, we have the Turin derby tonight, Juve expected to give Torino another solid thrashing.

We have a luxurious four day weekend of Serie A this weekend, here are the fixtures:
