Coppa Italia derby ends in a drab 0-0 draw.

Last night’s Coppa Italia semi final between Milan and Inter was something of a nothing burger. Both teams were short of form, especially Inter, and neither will be satisfied with the game or with the result.

Away goals still count double in the competition, so Inter will be disappointed to have drawn 0-0 away, as it means that any score draw in the second leg will see Milan through. Although the game did see a debut for January signing Robin Gosens.

Milan themselves will be annoyed as they edged it in terms of possession and chances, Handanovic doing well to parry away a trademark cut in from the left and shot by Leao. Inter’s most notable statistic is that they had a full squad to choose from.

Tonight’s affair between Fiorentina and Juventus will be a different affair and to a degree, the result is not the most important element. The return to Florence of Dusan Vlahovic, five weeks after he engineered his move from Fiorentina to Juventus is all that is being talked about. How does he feel about it? What does his manager think about it? What do his teammates think about it?

The man himself is said to be relaxed at the prospect of facing the fans but those fans will certainly not be in the mood to forgive or forget.

“It’s not in our DNA,” said fan club coordinator Federico De Sinopoli, “There will be a reaction, whether it’s a jeer or a chant or a whistle, but it will be there.”

The club have pleaded with the fans not to use racist slants against Vlahovic, but that request is expected to be ignored.

In Serie A, tickets for the top of the table clash between Napoli and Milan sold out within minutes. Capacity has increased to 75% and this is the biggest game Naples has seen for 4 years.

Spalletti is hoping to get the likes of Osimhen and Lobotka back to full fitness before Sunday.
