Five Star Fiorentina! – Italian Football News 14 Oct 22

Mixed fortunes for the Italian clubs in Europe last night but the standout performers again were Fiorentina, who routed Hearts 5-1 at home. The Viola, so bad against Lazio on Monday, shook off that defeat to go 4 points clear in second place in their Europe Conference League group. Goals from Nico Gonzalez, Luka Jovic, Cristiano Biraghi and Antonin Barak did the damage. Gonzalez helping himself to two, including a panenka penalty.

Lazio found themselves a man down just before half time when Lazzari received a second yellow in stoppage time, just after Immobile put the Romans ahead from the penalty spot.

Boving’s double and a goal from Pedro saw the game end 2-2.

Jose Mourinho described his strikers as ‘disastrous’ in the first half of their Europa League game away to Betis, but he was pleased to see them improve in the second half.

He praised his team’s spirit as they came from a goal down at half time to draw 1-1 and end Betis’ 100% home record this season.

A goal from Andrea Belotti brought them back into the game in the second half. Roma will likely go through to face one of the teams dumped out of the Champions League with one win from their final two games.

Mourinho went on to describe the teams dropping down as ‘the failed sharks of the Champions League’.

Here are this weekend’s Serie A matches!
